This past week Marvel relaunched my favorite comic book, Fantastic Four. Dan Slott, the former writer who ended a four year run, has been succeeded by award winning writer Ryan North (amazing on Adventure Time, Squirrel Girl, and Power Pack). As a long time collector of comics, I have seen a lot of marketing gimmicks, one of which is the constant renumbering of long running titles. It seems like every time a new creator takes over a title or a major event happens the “powers that be” re-boot the comic. When the next issue is released, instead of it being #49 its #1 (especially you Marvel). I believe God works a little bit like this. When we realize our story has become stale, old, tired, or uninspired we can either continue to force our story to be told or allow God to take over writing duties. We can choose to be a new number one. The story will be fresh, exciting, lively and inspired. Our story in the hands of the right creator can be more valuable than any comic ever written, and it's not a gimmick. I can't wait to see where this new creative team will take my favorite fictional family in the years to come and I can only imagine where a new creator can take you. 2 Cor 5:17 “So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away--look, what is new has come
